Often lauded as being one of the most well-known medicinal herbs in the United States, American Ginseng has become the basis of the most lucrative international markets in foraging. Since it was first classified as a protected species, the art of hunting ginseng has grown more and more imbued with environmental mindfulness as it is passed down from generation to generation. In southeast Ohio, ginseng is more than an industry — it is a way of life.
